What is it about allowing old dreams and desires to die? Is it about finally letting go of what was once your past love, or is it about finally letting go of your past fears of letting go of your past love? This is what seems to confuse use the most, not all, but most. It is a given that we don’t know what the future holds, yet we hold onto the past as if it were the future and hide in fear of the future as if it were our past. We end up dreaming up scenarios of what the future should be but then we look at the past and see how our present day incarnation is nothing like the scenario we thought it would be. So we learn to fear the future and cling onto the past, even when the past is nothing we should want to cling onto.

I know I am guilty of this, and even worse is when you know what you did in the past that has made your present day situation what it is and most likely not what you desired it to be but you are struck by fear of making even worse mistakes by moving forward. Think about the last five years of your life, tick, tick, tick. Alright, now if you can, think about the last five new years resolutions you made (at least one for each of the five years of your life.). Now how many of those new year resolutions were about making some huge change in your life. A change that you know you need to make, want to make and desire to make, yet one month into the new year you are still openly doing the same thing that on December 31st you said you were going to stop doing. And what is even worse is when you and a friend or significant other say that you will encourage each other to keep on the straight and narrow as to accomplish your goal, yet the two of you can’t seem to help each other out. You fail and they turn a blind eye, then, they fail and you turn a blind eye, because it is only courteous to not point out a friends fault even though they have stated that they want to leave that habit behind.

So what does it take to step into the future with confidence? Of course when a task is new it seems to be that thing that you have been waiting for and you have all these fresh ideas that seem like they will work out flawlessly. Uh oh, guess what? Here comes reality, the expected, unexpected, and all of those things that you failed at in the past, all the way back to elementary school. In hindsight it seems that it’s not about the confidence its about not letting the past run your future. It’s the previous events that we fall back on to find confidence in oneself for future journeys. Our human mind seems to glorify the failures and minimize the successes, therefore leading to a fear of the future. We have all seen it in ourselves since an early age, but never knew how to deal with it so we try to get or use “things” to cover it up. Stop and think about what that “thing” is for you. I know, I know, you don’t have that problem because you have hit all the goals that you have ever wanted to hit in life. Since that is you answer, I am happy to say that I know what your “thing” is, it’s denial. Come on now, think about it. Now that you have that “thing” visualized what made you decide that this “thing” is what can fill the void of failed journeys. It is almost symbolic to the blanket the kid in charley brown carried around with him.

Now that we have isolated what seems to be crucial factories to letting old dreams die, I shall start to embark on my next journey into my entrepreneurial endeavors. Of course the last one didn’t turn out the way I had hoped but like I discussed earlier, if you know what you did in the past then you can adjust what you will need to do for the future. Those adjustments are not going to be a quick fix in most cases. There will be plenty of more new set backs and adversities, but if you can stay focused on a greater cause than your own, you will find that the journey is well worth it.

God Bless,

Traydadude

This is my very first blog. I never understood why someone would want to put their personal thoughts and view points out there on the internet. But you can only go without understanding for so long before you either learn what needs to be learned or your left on the outside. Being on the outside is not always a bad thing but it also isn’t always a good thing. I find that most of the time when people choose to stand on the outside and look in, they tend not to want to gain a true understanding of what those on the inside are going through. So to not be one of those people who stand on the outside and wonder why those on the inside are doing what they are doing, I am proud to step into the world of blogging. As a new individual to the blogosphere I will have to learn the lingo that is used, the etiquette that is custom and so on and so on. The one thing that I do like about blogging is the fact that you can state your view points and you can touch on any subject that you want. So for me, I will touch on different subjects. I’m pretty sure that I will have different sections of my blog dedicated to spirituality, entrepreneurship, sports, technology and other things that interest me. So thanks for reading and feel free to stop by and discuss things that interest you too.
